Momentum builds for DFI as it launches Chinese New Year 2020 Travel Bag

DFI-Travel-Bag-Chinese-New-Year-edition-leadSwiss company Duty Free Innovation (DFI) – which makes sustainable shopping bags – has launched a special Chinese New Year Travel Bag design for 2020.

The Travel Bag concept, already being used by a number of retailers and brands in the channel, is the only certified recycled bag for life in travel retail and according to DFI, for every bag they produce they save three used plastic bottles from entering the waste system.

“The latest Travel Bag has been designed and launched to help retailers take advantage of the one of the busiest travel and shopping seasons in the year,” says DFI.

The Year Of The Rat will be celebrated on January 25th 2020 with the Spring Festival lasting several days; the longest public holiday in Asia.

DFI TO SAVE THREE MILLION PLASTIC BOTTLES FROM LANDFILL

Next year’s Chinese New Year Migration, also known as Chunyun or the Spring Festival Travel Rush, will see hundreds of millions of journeys by the Chinese by air, sea, road and rail.

DFI-Travel-Bag-Chinese-New-Year-edition-tallDFI, which is also a founding member of the Travel Retail Sustainability Forum (TRSF), has already taken orders for the new design and through those and other orders (in addition to expressions of interest in its range of Travel Bags), it expects to save in excess of three million bottles from being leaked in to the environment during the next 12 months.

DFI insists that its Travel Bag will be a ‘huge draw for sustainability-aware shoppers’ who want to carry their items in a ‘stylish and gift-worthy bag’. The DFI Travel Bag is a patented design and has been created and designed specifically for the travel industry.

As well as being the only certified recycled bag for life in travel retail, the bag is part of a wider shopping system that was created to drive spend in the channel.

“The shopping system sees a shopper collect a new design shopping basket which then conveniently slots over a travellers’ trolley bag,” explains DFI.

‘UNRESTRICTED AND HANDS-FREE SHOPPING’

This allows shopping to be unrestricted and ‘hands free’, encouraging shoppers to buy more instore.

At the check-out, the basket is exchanged for the eco-friendly Travel Bag for life that has the same easy-to-carry system, allowing the traveller to continue their journey unhindered without additional luggage to carry, adds the company.

DFI Vice President Global Commercial Strategy, Garry Stasiulevicuis (right), comments: “We know that carriage of items is the number one reason shoppers don’t buy more in store.

“By implementing our system, we have seen an increase in the average basket size, an increase in ATV and an increase in the number of shoppers using our basket and bag system’.

DFI will be showcasing the Travel Bag and their entire range of sustainable bags and carriage solutions at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes this year. To arrange an appointment to meet them please contact [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected]
