PanzerGlass secures listing at Istanbul Airport; gains breakthrough certification

Danish start-up PanzerGlass has gained a new listing for its 360-degree device protection solutions at Istanbul Grand Airport.

PanzerGlass’s products, inclusive of its screen protector with anti-bacterial effect for the new iPhone 13 series in sustainable packaging, can be found at D&R specialist electronic stores within the airport’s 53,000sq m commercial area (see image in gallery at footer).

Spray Twice A Day is now EU certified in its effectiveness against Covid-19 and enveloped viruses harbouring on smartphones, tablets and other devices.

BREAKTHROUGH: EU CERTIFICATION

Meanwhile, PanzerGlass announced last month that its virucidal screen cleaner ‘Spray Twice A Day’ has received EU approval confirming effectiveness against Covid-19.

In an important breakthrough, global travellers can now access an anti-bacterial spray that kills Covid-19 in addition to all enveloped viruses.

The declaration covers Hepatitis B, HIV, Measles as well as members of other virus families such as coronavirus, influenza and Ebola.

Spray Twice A Day is tested and approved according to ISO standards EN 1276, EN 13697 and now EN 14476:2013+A2:2019.

Free from perfume, ammonia, alcohol and parabens, the product contains no alcohol, which can cause wear to the oleophobic coating on your phone’s display.

Spray Twice A Day is authorised as a biocidal product on the EU market and approved according to the Biocidal Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 528/2012) and evaluated for safety and efficacy before sales are permitted  in the EU.

Speaking to TRBusiness during the recent TFWA World Exhibition, Brennan said the certification demonstrates the brand’s unique proposition in device hygiene.

“In today’s world, the importance of cleaning and sanitising your devices is as important as washing your hands. From a commercial point of view, this is a new product category; the majority of retailers do not strictly have a product that offers a certified solution that cleans and sanitises.

“There are a lot of cleaning solutions, but very few that are actually certified or have EU certification which we have. It gives consumers but also retailers confidence that they have a product which is tested in the marketplace.

“It was just by chance we developed this product pre-Covid in 2020 as a cleaning and sanitising solution. It fits very well with our full 360 proposition, which is centred on providing screen and case protection.”

Spray Twice A Day is being touted as an ideal impulse purchase and one that offers an opportunity to build baskets across the categories to drive average transaction value.

BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Given the ubiquity of mobile devices worldwide, Spray Twice A Day thus becomes attractive as a secondary or impulse purchase according to PanzerGlass.

Established in 2013, family owned PanzerGlass is today a global company employing more than 130 people and is present in 70 markets, including in travel retail where it has a presence at airports; onboard airlines, cruise ships, ferries and railways; at border shops; and within speciality retail.

Users of its signature screen protector, which began life as a handy defender for mobile phones, can now use the product to protect laptops, smartphones, tablets, cables, displays in cars and smartwatches.

 The strong PanzerGlass screen protector contains a signature coating with an embedded anti-bacterial membrane that kills viruses after 24 hours. The product is scratch and shock resistant.

At the heart of the firm’s evolution is a green manifesto, which includes reducing the plastic content across its products.

Having removed inner product trays and unnecessary accessories made of plastic in 2017, PanzerGlass has since switched to fully compostable material covering the protective bag used for its screen protector, accessory bag (cleaning set) and big protective bag in the inner boxes, among other actions.

In 2021, it has identified 10 plastic reducing areas such as coating, reducing elements inside packaging and reusing glass from production.
