Physical events resume with TR Consumer Forum

By Michael Barrett |

Return to physical: The Travel Retail Consumer Forum (20-22 September) aims to reconnect travel retail executives for an inspiring two-day event focused squarely on education, networking and ideas generation.

Post-Covid mega-trends affecting consumer behaviours will take centre stage at a new ground-breaking physical conference: the Travel Retail Consumer Forum (TR Consumer Forum), organised and hosted by TRBusiness and m1nd-set.

The event is due to be held at a hotel in the vicinity of London Heathrow Airport on 20-22 September 2021 and will be among the first opportunities for industry executives, colleagues and friends to re-convene in person since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The two-day conference will include an opening cocktail on Monday 20 September and a networking dinner on Tuesday 21 September. Networking lunches and coffee breaks will also be provided on both days.

TRBusiness and the leading Swiss travel and travel retail research agency are in the midst of curating a programme featuring unparalleled depth and detail on DF&TR post-Covid consumer behaviours across different channels, regions and product categories.

More details on the programme and venue will be revealed in due course. TRBusiness and m1nd-set are pleased to announce that the 2021 edition of the TR Consumer Forum is set to be the first of what will become an annual event.

EXPOSURE TO MEANINGFUL CONSUMER INTELLIGENCE

Just as the Travel Retail Sustainability Week was conceived as the only industry event to deal solely with sustainability within the travel retail sector, the Travel Retail Consumer Forum will stand as the industry’s only conference dedicated specifically to the all-important – and often ignored central stakeholder – the travelling consumer.

Attendees to the event will benefit from unique content and consumer insights, courtesy of TR Consumer Forum Co-founder m1nd-set.

Each session throughout the two-day event will include the consumer perspective with recent data compiled from various m1nd-set consumer research conducted throughout 2021 concerning the current landscape and post-Covid insights.

In this way, the focus will concentrate on how the DF&TR landscape has completely changed regarding consumers’ attitudes and behaviours.

As such, m1nd-set has defined several completely new priorities in shoppers’ psyches, such as health and wellbeing, sustainability, e-commerce and novel touch points along the travel journey.

This is in addition to category-specific intelligence, in-store design and shopping drivers, the luxury offer and region-specific focus including insights on domestic tourism and travel shopping behaviour.

RESEARCH, RECONNECT, REIMAGINE

Guest speakers from the industry will also share relevant insights and case studies across each of the topics discussed.

Nigel Hardy and Janice Hook have lauded the central philosophy underpinning the inaugural Travel Retail Consumer Forum, which is based around the three ‘Rs’.

TRBusiness Co-owners and Joint Managing Directors Nigel Hardy and Janice Hook welcomed the joint initiative: “We’re delighted to partner with m1nd-set as the leading travel research agency to bring up-to-the minute, relevant insights to the industry.

The event is centred around the ‘three Rs’, namely: Research, Reconnect and Reimagine.

“The returning consumer is ‘king’ and in a post-covid travel retail world the shopper’s opinion about what they think as well as what and how they buy will be everyone’s number one priority,” continued Hook and Hardy.

“The m1nd-set research will deliver this perspective. The inaugural Travel Retail Consumer Forum will be the first opportunity for the industry to physically network and exchange ideas since 2019.

“It will also facilitate the opportunity for the industry to ‘Reimagine’: to discuss the creation of a new model, a new way of thinking and a better way of doing business for the benefit of all stakeholders including the all-important consumer.”

Peter Mohn, Owner and CEO at m1nd-set added: “M1nd-set has been sharing our unique and bespoke consumer insights at many industry events for nearly 15 years.

“We have been invited to present at all travel retail and most airport and cruise retail industry conferences across the globe. This is a strategic step forward for us at m1nd-set and we are both excited and very proud to be partnering with TRBusiness on our first event as conference organisers.”

Being experts in consumer research working with companies across all categories and with many retailers, Mohn continued: “We see first-hand the emphasis many are placing on understanding the customer mindset in the post-Covid context. The inaugural Travel Retail Consumer Forum will help deliver answers to the many questions industry stakeholders are asking.”
