Gaurav Joshi, an industry veteran with over two decades of experience, has announced the launch of Platinum Liquids, a premium beverage distributor based in Delhi and with a focus on emerging markets.

Platinum Liquids specialises in premium spirits and tobacco, and said it aims to dominate the Global Travel Retail (GTR) channel and high-end domestic markets across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa (AMEA).

“Travel Retail is where we create and incubate the brands of tomorrow,” said Joshi, who added: “At Platinum Liquids, our mission is clear: to empower the next generation of brands, propelling them to new heights across key markets in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa through global retail channels.”

Joshi has over two decades of experience in premium alcobev and tobacco companies including Bacardi and Godfrey Phillips, and most recently, 7 years as Director of GTR Asia Pacific for Bacardi.

Prior to that, he held leadership roles managing GTR India and Southeast Asia.

Joshi’s expertise is primarily in luxury goods, particularly alcohol and cigars, and his previous roles carry deep knowledge of the AMEA region.

Emerging markets are driving immense opportunities. For instance, as per IWSR 2023, projected CAGR23-28 for APAC & IMEA is 9.9%, the highest in GTR. India is projected to be one of the top three volume growth markets over the next five years, with one-third of the 30 fastest-growing spirits brands globally being Indian. Additionally, South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya present massive premium-plus opportunities,” Joshi explained.

“It’s an exciting time to be in this market, and I’m thrilled to leverage my experience to build Platinum Liquids,” added Joshi.
