Quintessential Brands to introduce new GTR portfolio releases in Cannes
By Charlotte Turner |
Quintessential Brands will promote new additions to its growing Global Travel Retail (GTR) portfolio with the introduction of the Greener Greenall’s Paper Bottle as well as limited editions for Bloom London Dry Gin, flavour innovation for Opihr Spiced Gin and new packaging and wider distribution of Dubliner Irish Whiskey.
Sponsoring the TFWA Lounge sessions on Carlton Beach Monday – Wednesday, 18:30 – 21:00 & 23:00 – 02:00, the company is seeking to boost awareness of it new releases; further evidence of its continued investment in its GTR.
“There has been an 80% increase in volume for the Gin category since 2020 and this continues to climb, according to 2021 IWSR data,” highlights QB. “Irish Whiskey is also on the road to recovery with volume up 86% from 2020.”
The company’s gin portfolio currently offers one of the most competitive price sets for the passenger, insists QB. Greenall’s, The Original London Dry Gin, (which QB claims is the world’s oldest London dry gin) is currently priced 40% below domestic levels and Opihr and Bloom offer consumers significant savings in the premium sector when purchasing in travel retail outlets.
Oliver Storrie, Regional Director, Global Travel Retail, Quintessential Brands Group, said: “As we look to further grow the Quintessential Brands’ portfolio in Global Travel Retail, we focus on innovation, which is at the heart of what we do.
“This is a crucial time for the industry as the market continues to pick up and recover. Travellers continue to look for premium products at a competitive price point that have provenance and take the consumer on a journey.
TFWA Cannes platform
“Quintessential Brands is also sponsoring the TFWA lounge on Carlton Beach. Exhibitors and delegates who aren’t able to visit our stand during the day, will have the opportunity to network and sample our portfolio of brands in the evening, Monday through Wednesday. We look forward to welcoming everyone.”
During the exhibition, QB will introduce its new paper bottle format for Greenall’s for the GTR channel to visitors (see video above).
This packaging initiative is part of the brand’s new ‘Greener Greenall’s’ campaign, which includes a partnership with climate action organisation, Ecologi, where one tree will be planted for every Greener Greenall’s Paper Bottle sold. Trees are planted in areas of the world that need them most.
Made from 94% recycled paperboard with a food grade pouch to contain the gin, the paper bottle is not only five times lighter than a normal glass bottle, but its carbon footprint is six times lower, and its water footprint is four times lower. The result is a carbon footprint of 91.9g/CO2e per bottle compared to 558.2g/CO2e for a traditional glass bottle — a reduction of up to 84%. The new paper bottle is also fully recyclable with the outer paper casing and cap recycled curb side and the soft plastic liner at major supermarkets and recycling centres.
Storrie added: “It is a great achievement to be able to launch the Greener Greenall’s Paper Bottle in UK airports this year as the brand takes significant steps in its sustainability journey.
“Greenall’s has the opportunity to showcase its efforts on a global stage, which reflect those of the distillery where it is produced — G&J Distillers is a zero-landfill site. Passengers can pick up a bottle of premium gin that offers a rich provenance story in an environmentally friendly package, marrying the old with the new. This is just the beginning for Greenall’s and we look forward to be able to take our customers and our consumers on the journey with us.”
Quintessential Brands also plans to launch two new flavours for Greenall’s in the channel following success in domestic UK markets —Greenall’s Tropical Fruits and Greenall’s Pineapple. The flavour innovations are scheduled to launch across European travel retail in Spring 2023.
Following the domestic success of the Bloom London Dry Gin limited edition artist series with acclaimed female illustrator Lainey Molnar, this specialty bottle is now available in the UK (as of July) and is slated to appear across European travel retail in Spring 2023.
Bloom Passionfruit and Vanilla Blossom is the latest flavour from the brand available in travel retail having launched this summer in UK airports and ahead of Christmas, a value-added pack is being offered from October in UK airports for Bloom London Dry Gin including a 70cl bottle and branded Copa glass.
Opihr European Edition Aromatic Bitters has been shortlisted for The Best Spirits Product at the 2022 Global Travel Retail Awards, while OPIHR Spiced London Dry Gin has been shortlisted in the Star Spirits Product of the Year category with the Frontier Awards 2022.
A global travel retail exclusive gift pack is slated to launch in October in UK airports featuring a 70cl bottle of Opihr Spiced London Dry Gin and metal travel mug etched with the Opihr logo.
Rounding out the portfolio, for the first time in its new bottle, Dubliner Irish Whiskey is now available in GTR this year. IT launched in April across Europe with Heinemann, and from October is slated to be available in the UK with Dufry.
