Save the date: 2020 Travel Retail Awards set to be the biggest yet

Travel-Retail-Awards-2020-logo-leadThe 2020 Travel Retail Awards, the industry’s only consumer-voted awards created by TRBusiness in partnership with leading industry research agency m1nd-set, is set to surpass both the 2018 and 2019 events, with companies from all sectors of the industry expressing interest and submitting nominations.

The Awards dinner, which will take place during the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition in Singapore, will – by popular demand – shift from Monday evening to Tuesday 12 May at the prestigious Conrad Centennial Hotel.

TRBusiness is delighted with the number of nominations it has already received for the product category awards, with a strong field lining up across all categories.

Airports and their commercial partners have also responded positively to the Best Green Initiative at an Airport Award, new for the 2020 event.

This popular new category enables airports, retailers, food & beverage operators and other commercial operators – including brands with their own standalone shops in airports – to submit nominations for the most environmentally friendly initiative in airport retail.

The deadline for awards nominations is approaching fast: 31 January 2020. Nominations can be submitted directly online via the Travel Retail Awards website here.

The nominees will be judged by a panel of 5,000 consumers, recruited from m1nd-set’s database of international travellers from across the globe.

Consumers also vote on the best airports, from a list of the top 61 airports ranked by international passenger traffic, to determine the best airport retail experience, social media and digital offer, best airport for sense of place and for customer service.

Infinity came away with the award for Best Jewellery product at this year’s event.

In addition to the new Green Initiative Award, consumers will also judge the best Airport for Food & Beverage and Best Cruise Ship Retailer for the first time in 2020.

The results of the consumer vote are analysed by m1nd-set and compiled with reviews from a panel of expert consumer bloggers and vloggers to determine the winners in each category.

“We’re delighted with the extremely positive response so far to the 2020 Travel Retail Awards,” explained Nigel Hardy, TRBusiness Owner.

“It is testimony to the legitimacy of the only consumer-voted awards in the travel retail and airport commercial revenues industry.”

“As we reported recently, the awards have had significant impact for many of the winners and even finalists,” added TRBusiness co-owner Janice Hook.

“Not only because they can display the Award Certificate or Trophy in their trade and consumer marketing, but also owing to the highly valuable insights report they receive from m1nd-set immediately after the Awards ceremony.

“This enables them to see the consumer feedback on their own product or airport and benchmark against other companies in the same category.”

Companies which have already confirmed their support for the 2020 Travel Retail Awards include Distell and Duty Free Innovations as Platinum sponsors and Bluedog as Gold Sponsor.
