[UPDATED] TRBusiness and data partner m1nd-set are inviting duty free and travel retail stakeholders to save the date for the 2024 Global Travel Retail Awards ceremony, which is taking place on Tuesday 1 October at Hôtel Martinez in Cannes.

The ceremony coincides with the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference (Sunday 29 September to Thursday 3 October 2024), adding further sparkle to what is set to be a stand-out global gathering, marking TFWA’s 40th anniversary year, with its ‘closing night’ celebrations taking place on the Wednesday evening.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Following the publication of this story on 18 January, the eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that DFNI later announced that their own awards event will now take place on the same evening as the 2024 Global Travel Retail Awards.

In light of the above, TRBusiness reached out to DFNI urging it to switch its dates for the benefit of the wider industry to avoid both awards clashing on Tuesday 1 October.

It is gathered that DFNI were unable to move the Frontier Awards to an alternative evening during Cannes week due to TFWA hosting its own 40th anniversary celebrations on the evening of Wednesday 2 October.

In the interests of transparency and to avoid any confusion among our readers, partners and sponsors, TRBusiness felt it necessary to issue this important communication and make unequivocal our position in regards to this matter.

It is regrettable that this move has resulted in the clash of event timings. However, we look forward to welcoming travel retail executives to the industry’s only consumer-voted awards initiative, the 2024 Global Travel Retail Awards, on Tuesday 1 October for what we are confident will once again attract a record-breaking number of attendees.

The Travel Retail Awards, established in 2018, is the duty free and travel retail industry’s only awards programme that’s voted for entirely by consumers.

Being recognised in the Travel Retail Awards is a coveted achievement for all those seeking the seal of approval from the industry’s ultimate judges – travelling consumers.

The 2023 edition drew a 38% rise in the number of entries compared with 2022 and we’re expecting a rousing response to this year’s programme.

Those achieving Winner, Highly recommended and Finalists status in the 2023 edition have championed the positive impact the Travel Retail Awards is having on their business in the channel.

Furthermore, research has shown that achieving Travel Retail Awards recognition can help products to stand out on the shelves.

Insights by m1nd-set show that 22% of consumers are more likely to purchase a product displaying the ‘Voted by Shoppers’ Finalist logo, while nearly a third (31%) of consumers are more likely to purchase a product displaying the ‘Voted by Shoppers’ Winner logo.

All those recognised are encouraged to maximise their successes by promoting the ‘Voted by Shoppers’ logo on product packaging, marketing materials and at the point of sale.
