?Sinful? LCCs and the environment

By Administrator |

The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation has published a new 10-page article entitled ?Sinful? LCCs and the Environment – Europe takes the lead, in the most recent edition of it's excellent LCC report, Peanuts!

The article focuses on the interaction between the Environment and LCCs, recognising the growing importance of environmental issues to both the sector and in the broader context.
It stresses that environmental issues, including government policy and consumer perceptions (and marketing opportunities), will increasingly become key drivers and constraints of the global LCC phenomenon. It adds that recent suggestions by some church leaders that flying LCCs is actually ?sinful? only illustrates the unlimited scope of the future threat.
CAPA said: ‘The article follows the development of the debate as it radiates from Europe and its potential impact on LCCs globally. We review developments made by European LCCs towards integrating environmental policy into their operations and promoting LCCs as the world?s greenest airlines.’
Key headings include: LCCs and the Environment; LCCs leading the way in reducing environmental impact; easyJet – corporate and social responsibility; Ryanair – Europe?s greenest airline?; Flybe – low cost? but not at any cost; Other European LCC practices; UK CAA report?s significant findings; The EU position; IATA responds – UK tax is '42 times less cost effective'; And AEA – a reasonable scheme, provided the fine tuning is right; What next? The EU Benchmark.
These article is being made available to non-subscribers to read on a one-off trial basis and is highly recommended by The Business. Any readers wishing to read it in full should paste the following URL address into their browser:
