Socially conscious Storyteller in expansion drive following TR Award win

By Charlotte Turner |

Storyteller FlagMate is eager to leverage its Asia Pacific Travel Retail Award win this year, by expanding into more travel retail territories.

The brand became a finalist at the Global Travel Retail Awards in 2021 and this year secured the award for Best Fashion Accessory for the Asia Pacific Region.

Created for ‘globetrotters’, FlagMate is an ethically sourced keyring, to which hand-painted flags can be attached; one for each country the traveller has visited.

There is also an option to engrave the back of each flag, detailing any special moments and memories from the trip, ‘ensuring this incredible visual storytelling tool is completely unique to the holder’, said the brand. Each product is hand-crafted and made in the UK.

“With each country you visit add a Storyteller Flag to your FlagMate and another chapter to your story,” said company Founder, Bhavesh Patel.

“Whether it’s a gift to a friend capturing their travels or a collection of your travel memories, FlagMate is the perfect travel companion, which can also be used as a keyring, clipped to a bag or a simple keepsake.”

Ten percent of each purchase helps to fund educational programmes for struggling or impoverished communities.

To date Storyteller has worked in nine different countries, working on the renovation of schools, creating libraries, or leading education-focused skills classes for young people, along with business skills workshops for adults.

So far Storyteller’s projects have impacted more than 1,500 children around the world, earning them the Social Entrepreneurs of the Year award for 2021 and 2022.

This also led to Patel being invited to Buckingham Palace by the Royal Family for the Commonwealth Diaspora Reception to celebrate those making an impact in business, community and culture.

Prices for the Storyteller Flagmate range from £4.99 and are available to purchase in large bundles.

“Combining the simplicity of a souvenir and longevity of a travel journal, FlagMate is the perfect way to capture all of your special travel memories in one place,” added Patel.
