Starboard brings exclusives and retail ‘firsts’ onboard Norwegian Encore
By Luke Barras-hill |
Guests on Norwegian Encore will be able to shop more than 7,000sq ft of retail space and indulge in a number of first-to-sea exclusives and limited editions.
LVMH-owned Starboard Cruise Services has announced the retail spread onboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) fourth and final Breakaway Plus class vessel [TRBusiness was treated to a special preview of the retail spread prior to the official unveiling and will bring you further coverage very soon].
An eclectic array of Swiss timepieces featuring the likes of IWC Schaffhausen, Hublot and Panerai are housed in a designated enclave, while NCL’s first Bulgari boutique outside of Asia adds extra lustre.
Panerai – an NCL first – boasts its most expansive space at sea and joins areas for Cartier Espace, Le Vian Jewelry and John Hardy.
IT COSMETICS TAKES TO THE SEAS
In beauty, L’Oréal-owned IT Cosmetics makes its debut on the water, while NYX Professional Makeup is available with NCL for the first time.
Spirits lovers can peruse an enviable assortment of rare collections, including Barton 1792 Full Proof Bourbon Barrel, Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Bourbon, Herradura Tequila Single Barrel and Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Whiskey.

NCL’s first Bulgari boutique outside Asia has opened on Norwegian Encore. Left to right: Christian Konrad, President Latin America and Caribbean, Bulgari; Niklas Persson, Captain, Norwegian Encore; and Lisa Bauer, President and CEO, Starboard Cruise Services.
Each Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Whiskey bottle has a commemorative Norwegian Encore medallion for extra novelty.
Meanwhile, a Veuve Clicquot Arrow tin is available as a limited edition created exclusively for the ship.
SUSTAINABLE COLLECTIONS
Underpinning Norwegian Encore’s commitment to sustainable business are specific branded collections such as Sail & Sustain, which echoes the cruise line’s Sail & Sustain Environmental Programme.
The range features apparel and headwear manufactured from recycled water bottles and blankets made from 100% recycled polyester.
Bolstering the Norwegian Encore Branded Collection is 4Ocean, another first, offering bracelets made from 100% recycled materials. This joins other limited edition collectibles and a children’s range.
In a nod to experiential retailing, synonymous with Starboard’s approach, guests can experience a number of immersive activations.
These include Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori Celebration (an exploration of the new Serpenti Seduttori timepiece supported by branded backdrops and photo opportunities); and Panerai Underwater World (a virtual reality deep-dive using headsets explaining the world of Panerai’s timepieces).
Elsewhere is Sail to Bali with John Hardy (an education on the eight-step process of the brand’s Balinese jewellery-making techniques); Cartier Grooms (select guests receive a special co-branded Cartier postcard to be mailed from the Cartier Espace area); and Makeup Seminar (featuring NYX, IT Cosmetics and Urban Decay, plus a five-minute makeover service and consultations).
