Support for TR Sustainability Week strengthens as new sponsors sign up

By Michael Barrett |

Momentum builds for the industry’s only event dedicated solely to sustainability and social responsibility as a plethora of major brands commit to support the second edition of the annual Travel Retail Sustainability Week.

Following an announcement about Mars’ unique partnership with TRBusiness for the company’s sustainability agenda, including Headline Sponsorship of TR Sustainability Week, TRBusiness is delighted to reveal that Beam Suntory has signed up as a Platinum Partner of the event.

JTI, L’Occitane en Provence, Moroccanoil along with confectionery companies Nestlé and Ritter Sport have all signed up as Premium Partners.

Companies from all sectors within the industry have been increasing investments and shifting priorities in recent months in the wake of the pandemic.

Since TRBusiness launched the industry think-tank TR Sustainability Forum and TR Plastic Pledge in 2019, the number of companies within the sector announcing new sustainable strategies and rethinking their consumer communications to bring greater focus on their social responsibility agendas and investments, has grown significantly.

Nigel Hardy and Janice Hook, TRBusiness owners and co-Managing Directors commented: “It is rare to find any company that does not have a corporate social responsibility strategy, involving sustainable production or packaging.

“Pre-pandemic, it was a nice-to-have for many companies and certainly not at the fore of any discussions. Two years on, as consumers have shifted their own priorities to more responsible consumption and mindful lifestyles, we are seeing a huge surge in interest and excitement among companies across the industry, keen to talk about their investments in sustainability.

“We’re delighted with industry’s show of support for TR Sustainability Week, as this only helps drive the conversation and industry-wide conversion to more sustainable, responsible, inclusive and health-conscious business practices.”

As announced, the 2022 edition of TR Sustainability Week will broaden its focus. This year, the agenda will include health and wellbeing as well as diversity and inclusion in addition to all environmental aspects of sustainable business practices during the webinar sessions throughout the four-day event, commencing Tuesday 19 April and running until Friday 22 April, which coincides with World Earth Day.

The webinar agenda can already be seen on the event website here. Details of speakers taking part in each session will be announced in the near future.

As with the inaugural edition in 2021, the coveted Sustainability Pitch programme will once again showcase and celebrate sustainable initiatives across the travel and travel retail sector.

The Sustainability Pitch programme gives stakeholders the opportunity to tell their stories and promote their sustainable services and solutions in this unique sustainability recognition programme.

As with the webinar agenda, the 2022 edition of the Sustainability Pitch will enable companies to showcase their investment into diversity and inclusion, as well as health and wellbeing initiatives within pitch programme.

The Sustainability Pitch will once again be judged by a stellar line-up of senior executives from retailers and airports alongside TRBusiness research partner m1nd-set, who will also provide their expert help with the scoring methodology.
