Sustainable beauty session to feature expert panel at TR Sustainability Week

Nature, innovation and circularity in fragrances, skincare and cosmetics will be the focus of a dedicated beauty webinar on day one of  the inaugural Travel Retail Sustainability Week digital event (19-23 April).

Entitled ‘Beautiful Future: Sustainability in Fragrance, Skincare and Cosmetics’ the session will feature a panel of sustainability and beauty experts who will provide their individual and company perspectives on current trends from produce to packaging.

Consumer insights, partnerships with producers and sustainable agriculture will be evaluated by the panel which will feature senior executives from Guerlain, L’Occitane, The French Fragrance Foundation and sustainable beauty consultancy Beauty of Change.

The session, which will take place on Monday 19 April at 2pm UK time, is kindly sponsored by Aer Rianta International, Brown-Forman, Coty, Guerlain and Mondelez International.

Nathalie Helloin-Kamel who is Vice President at the French Fragrance Foundation and Head of Global Fine Fragrances at Takasago will reveal consumer insights from the Foundation’s regular Perfume Barometer Study.

The research, which looks at a wide range of consumer trends on the fragrance category, including sustainability will discuss consumer behaviour in regard to various sustainable trends.

Helloin-Kamel will reveal how fragrance shoppers are reacting to recycling and rechargeable containers, as well as shoppers’ sensitivity and expectations towards brands’ CSR policies.

Cécile Lochard, Chief Sustainability Officer at luxury fragrance house Guerlain will share the key pillars of the company’s sustainability approach, which encompasses nature and sustainably-sourced ingredients, partnerships with suppliers in source markets and forays into sustainable packaging.

Jean-Charles Lhommet, Biodiversity & Sustainable Ingredients Manager at L’Occitane, which was recently recognised by sustainability ratings agency EcoVadis for the group’s #NotJustSuppliers global sustainable procurement programme, will share the French beauty company’s approach towards ‘respecting biodiversity’.

Lhommet will also discuss how the company is transforming agricultural practices through its ecological approach to agriculture. He will outline L’Occitane’s key sustainability pillar and how it aims to promote and protect over 1,000 plant varieties and more than 500 different plant species.

Luce Grossetete, Founder, Beauty of Change will provide a holistic overview of sustainable practices from large and small beauty suppliers (multinationals and start-ups) and reveal how retailers are approaching sustainability in the beauty sector. Grossetete will present a bird’s eye view of the sector, which will involve sharing local market and travel retail initiatives.
