The family owned, independent Scotch whisky firm is taking gradual and considered inroads into global duty free against the backdrop of the coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.

“It is a two-way street: we are here to support businesses sell whisky at the same time as being sympathetic to the current situation,” commented Chris Leggat, CEO, Douglas Laing & Co.

“There is a lot of transition for many businesses and brands. We can react to scenarios, are here to support and get our whisky into consumers’ hands and bring back a bit of a smile in duty free and travel retail.”

Douglas Laing & Co. is working with brand and retail consultancy Travel Retail Cooperation to penetrate DF&TR markets.

As part of a dual interview, Hannes Koch, Managing Director, Travel Retail Cooperation added: “TRMarketplace is putting together a great platform; we are really looking forward to it.

“TRMarketplace is a fantastic opportunity for us at Douglas Laing to get our products out to buyers in travel retail. We have launched the Remarkable Regional Malts range for travel retail. We’ve enjoyed excellent feedback so far. Due to Covid-19, we were not able to be as fast as accelerating the business in travel retail as we would have wanted.

“Therefore, TRMarketplace gives us the opportunity to reach out to people, showcase our products, do virtual tastings, get more recognition for the brand and eventually further the business.”

TRMarketplace is available for all categories and will allow each supplier/brand access to a dedicated ‘brand hub’.

With a fixed price to exhibit of GBP£4,495 (ex VAT) – available to every company regardless of size – TRBusiness and Bluedog Productions believe that this opportunity is accessible to all.

Registration is open for DF&TR retailers, airports, cruise lines, border stores and airlines, who will gain free-of-charge access to the TRMarketplace.
