The Macallan Harmony Collection has been developed with Stella and Mary McCartney

Edrington-owned single malt Scotch brand The Macallan has enlisted Stella and Mary McCartney to create the third edition of its Harmony Collection.

Released each year, the Harmony Collection is designed to spotlight the creative mindset of the whisky brand.

This year’s release celebrates the lands of Scotland that “connect all those who have stood upon them for generations”.

It spans two distinct expressions: The Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow and Green Meadow.

The releases were inspired by the McCartney sisters’ love for Scotland and their memories of the countryside.

Presentation boxes and bottle labels have been made from discarded meadow cuttings. They are also a nod to creating beauty from resources at the end of their lives.

The packaging also features photography of The Macallan Estate, captured by Mary McCartney.

Stella and Mary’s logo is used across the range, alongside The Macallan branding.

The whiskies themselves are said to be inspired by Scottish grasslands, and they make use of both sherry seasoned oak and ex-bourbon casks.

Amber Meadow is said to offer notes including honeysuckle, vanilla, ripe barley fields, melon and green tea.

Green Meadow has given notes of petrichor, bluebells, almonds, barley sugars and fresh oak.

The Macallan Harmony: ‘Bold new territory’

“There is so much to discover with The Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow,” said Steven Bremner, Whisky Maker.

“It is a single malt redolent of warm meadows and mature barley fields, with a rich, citrus scented finish.

The Macallan Edrington Jeremy Speirs

Jeremy Speirs says The Macallan Harmony is resonating strongly with travellers.

“The 100% natural summer evening colour derived from our exceptional sherry seasoned oak and bourbon casks reflects the richness of the flavour which awaits.

“On the nose fresh citrus fruits and honeysuckle are complemented by hints of vanilla, coconut and ripe barley fields. On tasting, notes of oak, lemon, melon are prominent, accompanied by flavours of classic scone and almond with green tea, before giving way to a rich and sweet long finish.”

Jeremy Speirs, Edrington Regional Managing Director, Global Travel Retail added: “The first two editions in The Macallan Harmony Collection have resonated strongly with travellers and we are confident that Green Meadow will build on this momentum.

“The partnership with Stella and Mary McCartney takes us into bold new territory and will appeal to a new group of travellers who admire the creativity and craftsmanship of these world-renowned fashion and photography icons.”

Available from October 2023, both expressions have an RRSP of £160.

The Macallan Harmony Collection Green Meadow is the third GTR-exclusive edition in the range. It will be available in The Macallan Boutiques and from key airports around the world. It is also listed in Hainan Island duty free stores.

As part of the partnership with the McCartney sisters, there is also a range of limited edition lifestyle pieces released to accompany the expressions.

Together: A Collection for The Macallan by Stella and Mary McCartney includes glassware, a ceramic flask, ice stamps and a napkin weight.

Other pieces include coasters, a brass tray, a lambswool blanket, and a pair of framed prints by Mary McCartney.

Together is available as a complete set in local markets from 11 October.

Earlier this year, The Macallan released its Colour Collection, marking a return to age-statement whiskies in GTR.
