One in five airline passengers is a smoker and airports should take better care of them according to a gutsy address by Neil Lovett, Managing Director of BAT at today's Middle East Duty Free Association

(MEDFA) conference.
He said the facilities provided by many airports for smokers were poor or non-existent and airport managements should improve them since research has showed that where good smoking facilities exist in airports, these passengers spend more in the shops.
He said there were examples of good smoking facilities in some airports and he was aware of moves by some tobacco companies to get involved with more. In his concluding remark, Lovett said: ‘There is a sustainable future for tobacco whether you love or hate the product.’
