Travel Retail Awards: Shoppers’ verdicts on airport retailing

Airport_blogAs the second instalment of the shopper-voted Travel Retail Awards approaches, its leading panel of consumer judges reveal their likes and dislikes when it comes to airport shopping.

The judges agreed that airports’ ‘unique spaces’ offer an opportunity to engage with a captive audience who can browse and shop unencumbered – something often touted within industry circles but rarely expressed by the end consumer.

“Every shop has things in common with one another, but also differences, which is interesting and fun to explore,” commented one consumer judge.

HONEST OPINIONS

Criticisms include the often unavoidable congestion in the shopping aisles during peak times, price differences with online, the expectation duty free will be cheaper, pressure selling while navigating the store, and the feeling of being rushed.

This 2019 Travel Retail Awards is teaming up with Dufry Group to voice the work of global charity SOS Children’s Villages.

A donation from every table/seat booked will go towards the charity. An event taking place during the evening will raise additional funds.
