Travel Retail Connect webinars to counter Covid-19
By Michael Barrett |
In response to the persistent and probable continued cancellations of physical events across the global travel retail calendar in the coming months, TRBusiness is pleased to announce the launch of its interactive insights webinars, Travel Retail Connect; the TRBusiness online insights programme.
The series of educative and informative online events is part of TRBusiness’ reinforced events strategy, in response to a demand for quality events in the online space amidst these cancellations, expressed during discussions with a large number of senior industry executives.
Register your interest in the Travel Retail Connect webinar series here.
The Travel Retail Connect series will allow industry stakeholders to meet and greet in an online environment and benefit from inspiring and engaging educational content.
The Travel Retail Connect interactive insights programme, which will commence in the coming weeks, will invite brands, retailers and creative agencies, among other stakeholders, to discuss various growth-driver initiatives, from engaging merchandising to persuasive packaging and nationality specific marketing.
A COLLABORATIVE INDUSTRY PLATFORM

TRBusiness will hold a special Travel Retail Sustainability Forum (TRSF) session in the Travel Retail Connect series.
Each session will carry a unique theme and seek to dissect pertinent topics relevant to all categories and sectors, informed by consumer insights, data & analysis and expert opinion.
TRBusiness is also inviting all industry trade associations to join the Travel Retail Connect online platform and collaborate in reaching out to the industry in these unpredictable times through the webinars.
A dedicated Travel Retail Connect webinar on sustainability will replace the inaugural Travel Retail Sustainability Forum (TRSF), initially scheduled to take place in Orlando during the 2020 Duty Free & Travel Retail Summit of the Americas, cancelled early March.
It will feature a panel of senior industry executives sharing their perspective on how and why travel retail can and must move to awards more sustainable practices, in particular with regards to single-use plastics.
A consumer insights webinar in partnership with leading industry research agency, m1nd-set, will focus on the recent survey conducted by m1nd-set for the TRBusiness Travel Retail Awards with detailed feedback from the panel of 5000 international travellers who judged the 2020 awards nominations.
It will also focus on key themes dealt with in recent research studies by m1nd-set, including Millennials shopping behaviour, impulse purchasers, the importance of sales staff and gift purchasers. The Travel Retail Awards Ceremony has been rescheduled to take place during the TFWA World Exhibition as announced last week.

Nigel Hardy: “These educational webinars will help all companies emerge from the current Covid-19 crisis better prepared to serve travel retail customers in the future.”
HELPING THE INDUSTRY BEYOND COVID-19
Nigel Hardy, Managing Director and Joint Co-owner at TRBusiness explained the move: “We remain committed to providing our unrivalled high quality, unbiased and informative content across all our media at TRBusiness.
“We’ve been talking and listening to our readers, clients and partners regularly over the past few weeks and have understood the need to continue to serve the industry in these unprecedented times.
“This interactive insights programme, Travel Retail Connect, will place an emphasis on relevant data and will arm stakeholders with unique and actionable information. These educational webinars will help all companies emerge from the current Covid-19 crisis better prepared to serve travel retail customers in the future.”
“We are conscious that we will not be able to provide the same networking environment that a physical event provides. To address this, we will be looking at making the events as interactive as possible, giving participants maximum opportunities to interact with speakers and providing sponsors high quality and engaging environments via the online webinar portals.
“We are investing significant resources into ensuring the best possible experience for all concerned through Travel Retail Connect with interactive live discussions. We are very excited to be launching this much needed service.”
Charlotte Turner, Editorial Director added: “The duty free & travel retail industry hosts an impressive roster of scheduled events every year, and whilst the events have sadly been cancelled, the demand for networking, face-to-face meetings and stimulating debate still remains.
“Whilst we cannot replace face-to-face contact, we can provide a valuable alternative, which will help the industry on its road to recovery. This is the time for re-invention and for all the many talented people in our industry to come together to bounce their ideas off each other, while voicing their concerns and trying to collectively find solutions.”
