TRBusiness Limited can today (15 December) announce several high-profile changes to its award-winning editorial team.
Charlotte Turner, who has spent eleven-and-a-half years with TRBusiness, will leave the company at the end of January to pursue a new challenge with drinks giant Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail.
Luke Barras-Hill, Managing Editor – e-zine, becomes Editorial Director, responsible for overseeing TRBusiness’ publishing strategy across a fast-growing portfolio comprising its news service, events, multimedia content and social media activity.
Meanwhile, Faye Bartle, Executive Editor, Digital, Social Media and Marketing, earns additional responsibilities for TRBusiness’ flagship e-zine, taking on the new position of Managing Editor Digital | Marketing.
The new appointments are effective from 1 February.
A new growth chapter…
Having joined TRBusiness in 2011, Turner became Managing Editor in April 2015, before ascending to Editorial Director and Non-Executive Board Member in September 2019.
Barras-Hill joined as Deputy Editor in February 2017 and was appointed Managing Editor in July 2021, while Bartle joined the team in May 2022 as Executive Editor, Digital, Social Media & Marketing.
The announcements come as TRBusiness concludes a highly successful 25th year of trading, having broken new ground in 2022 with the second iteration of the highly acclaimed TR Consumer Forum hosted in Limassol, Cyprus in June and the return of the influential TR Sustainability Week in April.
In October, the renowned Travel Retail Awards – the only DF&TR industry awards voted by consumers – made its debut in Cannes during the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference.
Turner commented: “After spending almost 12 years with TRBusiness, I feel like there are few people who know this company and its employees better than I do. I can honestly say that this company is home to some of the most talented, warm, passionate and dedicated people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
“I am incredibly grateful to Nigel Hardy, Janice Hook and former Editorial Director, Doug Newhouse, for the opportunity they afforded me back in 2011 and for everything the Directors – including Ben Webb – have done to support me since.
“I have every confidence in Luke and Faye in their new positions with TRBusiness. I have learned so much from Luke over the last six years and know it will be hard for me to replace such an incredible team mate.
“I am delighted to be taking on a new challenge with Pernod Ricard, but I will also be very sorry to say farewell to not just my colleagues, but dear friends at TRBusiness.”
‘A seismic year’ for TRBusiness
Barras-Hill said: “It’s an honour to take the editorial reins at TRBusiness. It’s been a seismic year in which we’ve continued with our stated mission of ‘Helping the industry grow’ as it continues to claw back international passenger volumes and retail sales.
“I want to take this opportunity to pay a mighty tribute to Charlotte Turner, someone I’ve had the pleasure of working with closely for many years.
“A stalwart of TRBusiness, Charlotte has contributed so much to the company, and, like her predecessor Doug Newhouse, has been a remarkable driving force in shaping the editorial ethics and values that the company stands for today.
“I speak on behalf of all the Directors when I say she will be missed in no small measure, but equally I’m in no doubt that her multifarious talents will stand her in good stead as she embarks on this new, exciting challenge.
“As the baton passes, it’s a hugely exciting time for the business and an opportune moment to build on our reputation as a source of authoritative, trustworthy and provocative journalism.
“Those principles will inform my decision-making as we strengthen in several important areas to sharpen the way we disseminate content across our channels. Watch out for some exciting developments in the months ahead…
“I also want to thank Faye Bartle for her outstanding commitment and input since joining TRBusiness.
“This promotion is fitting recognition of her undoubted ability and I’m looking forward to seeing Faye attack her new role with the same demonstrable energy, tenacity and determination she has displayed to date.”
Elevating content across all platforms
Bartle commented on the changes to the editorial department: “It has been a privilege to work with Charlotte over the past seven months and see first-hand how her strong leadership has shaped the editorial direction of the business.
“As Luke takes the helm, I am looking forward to working together to further elevate the content across our channels.”

TRBusiness Co-Owners and Joint CEOs, Nigel Hardy and Janice Hook.
Nigel Hardy, Co-Owner & Joint Chief Executive Officer, said. “Charlotte’s departure is truly bitter sweet news to myself and Janice. Whilst we are delighted that she is moving on to a challenging new position, she will be greatly missed as a valued member of the team, board member and as a colleague.
“Since graduating from Brunel University, Charlotte’s career path has always remained firmly within the publishing field and we can understand why she feels the need to explore other paths outside of this, using the comprehensive skillset that she has acquired during her tenure at TRBusiness.
“We are confident that she will bring a greatly valued contribution to Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail in her new position.”
“It has been a huge pleasure to watch Charlotte’s progress within both TRBusiness Limited and the travel retail industry over the last 11 years.
“She has set an incredibly high standard of b2b journalism that many of her peers would struggle to match and we have been extremely proud to have her as our front-of-house spokesperson.”
Janice Hook, fellow Co-Owner & Joint Chief Executive Officer, added.”Charlotte has been the perfect ambassador for our company, both in her early days and in later times as both Managing Editor and Editorial Director. We wish her much happiness in her new role.”
