TRBusiness bolsters its ranks with key appointments in big year ahead

Leading duty free and travel retail B2B media and events company TRBusiness has strengthened its publishing and events divisions with two important hires.

London-based Benedict Evans has joined the team as Content Editor from Mark Allen Group, where he has spent the past few years gaining valuable experience working in a fast-paced publishing environment, supporting the company’s editorial, events and marketing functions in sectors such as technology and engineering.

As an NCTJ-qualified journalist, Evans possesses skills in print, digital and multimedia journalism, which will prove valuable as TRBusiness entrenches its position as a source of authoritative news and analysis and the market leader in video journalism, while broadening its editorial scope to reach new and diversified audiences in global travel retail.

Evans reports directly to TRBusiness Managing Editor Digital and Marketing Faye Bartle. Both report to Editorial Director Luke Barras-Hill.

Positioned for growth

NCTJ-qualified journalist Benedict Evans has been appointed Content Editor, TRBusiness.

Evans stated: “I’m delighted to be joining the team, who have already been incredibly welcoming, and contributing to TRBusiness’ already well-founded reputation as a leading publication within travel retail.”

Meanwhile, Caryn Collins has been appointed to the newly created full-time position of Head of Events. She will take up her role in February and report to Managing Director Ben Webb and the company’s Board of Directors.

With more than three decades’ experience working in events, Collins’ resume includes seven years as Head of Events & Operations with her main client being Tui Travel where she managed overseas events and entertainment for approximately 40 hotels and 150 staff across Europe. This is in addition to seven years at business publisher William Reed as Event Manager, responsible for various events within its portfolio.

Most recently, she held the position of Events Manager at Lewis Business Media where she oversaw the end-to-end operation of corporate, bespoke awards dinners and conferences for the company’s publications.

Caryn Collins has more than 30 years’ experience in the event and entertainment industries, including spells with Tui Travel and William Reed.

Collins added: “Having been in the event and entertainment industry for nearly 30 years, primarily as a professional singer and moving through the ranks to choreographer, director and then into the corporate world of awards and conferences, I am lucky to say that I have travelled a lot in my life.

“I love to travel and a big part of that is the experience you have through travel retail. I am extremely excited to bring my experience to such a well established and renowned magazine as TRBusiness to help showcase and celebrate the enormous effort and excellence that is the travel retail industry.”

In a simultaneous announcement, Michael Barrett, Head of Events and Corporate Responsibility – a position he has held on a freelance consultancy basis since 2019 – will depart TRBusiness after 31 January.

He will continue working with travel research company m1nd-set, where he serves as a marketing consultant.
