TRBusiness magazine goes green, free and digital from 2021

By Charlotte Turner |

TRBusiness is proud to announce that as of January 2021, it will be entering the next phase of a company-wide sustainability programme by only producing digital magazines for all of its non-tradeshow issues.

Going digital means that TRBusiness Magazine will now be totally free of charge for the entire industry, including all premium content. This means 100% free access to unrivalled business intelligence, analysis, exclusive interviews, data, commentary, consumer research etc. TRBusiness will email a copy of the e-zine every month to over 16,000 email subscribers.

To receive every complimentary issue of the digital magazine, please sign up to receive our newsletters HERE.

TRBusiness will still produce 12 monthly issues (in addition to its Top 10 International Operators Report) in a digital e-zine format and will continue to be available in print at all major exhibitions and conferences throughout the year, for which TRBusiness will be offsetting the carbon footprint.

TRAVEL RETAIL SUSTAINABILITY FORUM

This is just one more step in the company’s sustainability journey first initiated in July 2019. Responding to an increase in consumer-led environmental activism, TRBusiness, in association with Duty Free Innovation (DFI), launched two pioneering initiatives – The TR Plastic Pledge and the Travel Retail Sustainability Forum (TRSF) – to help the duty free & travel retail industry combat its impacts on the environment, including plastic pollution.

While, this year has presented unforeseen challenges as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, TRBusiness is delighted that so many companies still place sustainability at the very top of their agendas.

To walk the talk, we at TRBusiness have been ‘going green’ wherever we can. We replaced the magazine’s plastic postage bag with a new 100% oxo-biogradable sleeve. In addition, the paper we use originates from responsibly managed and sustainable forests and is FSC certified, which means that anyone can trace where our paper has come from and see that new trees have been planted.

The trophies for the consumer voted 2020 Travel Retail Awards are for the first time made out of recycled aluminium and funds raised from this year’s Charity Raffle will benefit the ‘Litter Less Campaign’ in New Delhi, India, an initiative of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

As announced earlier this year, the project was nominated by Mars Wrigley – a long-time partner and benefactor of the FEE and one of the Platinum Sponsors of the Travel Retail Awards.

NEW: BEST GREEN INITIATIVE AT AN AIRPORT

This year, TRBusiness has also introduced the ‘Best Green Initiative at an airport’ voted by consumers award. The winning company will not only take away the prestigious environmentally-friendly Travel Retail Awards trophy, but they will also be able to nominate the environmental charity of their choice to receive a £5,000 donation, courtesy of Distell International.

“The new digital format will provide readers with a high calibre blend of the traditional magazine format they are used to with bonus multimedia-rich content from our editorial team and advertising partners,” says Editorial Director, Charlotte Turner.

“Our regular and reliable research is now totally free, supporting companies as they begin to rebuild their businesses in the post-Covid era.”

“TRBusiness is committed to keeping sustainability at the top of the travel retail industry’s agenda,” adds Michael Barrett, Events and Corporate Social Responsibility Manager..

“It is more important than ever to keep sustainability front of mind as we emerge from the Covid-19 crisis. All stakeholders need to be more mindful of consumer demands, as we look to gradually rebuild the industry together.”
