TRBusiness launches The Travel Retail Awards

By Charlotte Turner |

Travel-Retail-Awards-leadTRBusiness magazine has partnered with m1nd-set and is pleased to be able to finally announce the introduction of the first and only consumer-voted awards dedicated to the travel retail industry – the Travel Retail Awards – the first of which will take place on Monday 7 May 2018 at Singapore’s Conrad Hotel during the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference.

This totally unique project aims to heighten exposure of the duty free & travel retail industry to the end-consumer.

As we all know, shopping is an essential part of the passengers’ experience and we believe that when they travel through an airport it is where their journey/holiday begins.

The top airports around the world provide perfect environments for truly memorable retail experiences and it’s a time when customers can discover unique and interesting products, sometimes for the very first time.

THROUGH THE EYES OF THE CONSUMER

The Travel Retail Awards, which will celebrate excellence in travel retail through the eyes of the consumer, will naturally be voted for by consumers.

TRBusiness and m1nd-set will be asking international travellers to name their favourite products, airport shopping locations, airport mobile applications and much more.

As a result of these awards, winners will be given the opportunity to bear the prestigious Travel Retail Awards logo, which travellers will be able to identify at airports and on travel retail products all over the world. The logo will become synonymous with real consumer appeal as voted for by the people they trust; their fellow travellers.

For the set of product category awards, each product entered will be judged by over 5,000 participants, independently sourced from m1nd-set’s unique database of international travellers. Every single one of the consumers voting will have travelled through an airport within the past six months. This stage of the judging process will make up 70% of the overall score.

PANEL OF BLOGGERS & VLOGGERS

A panel of bloggers and vloggers (video bloggers), who possess a range of product and travel expertise, will also judge the products, making up the remaining 30% of the overall score. In addition to receiving information about each item, this panel will be able to touch, feel and try out the product.

Along with products, consumers will also vote on 42 airports, selected from each region [name the regions here] from m1nd-set’s unique database. Over 5,000 participants who have travelled through each of the airports within the past six months will be asked a series of questions about their airport shopping experience. The results will then be collated and airports will be awarded accordingly.
