Victorinox and Off-White unveil limited edition Swiss Army Knife
By Faye Bartle |
Off-White and Victorinox have teamed up to co-create a new, limited edition Swiss Army Knife.
The Off-White C/O Victorinox Limited Edition (SRP US$479) has been two years in the making, and just 3,000 pieces are available worldwide (sequential numbering is engraved on the blade).
Combining the functionality, quality, innovation and signature design that consumers have come to know from Victorinox with the creativity and boldness of Off-White, the Swiss Army Knife marks the start of a collaboration between the two lifestyle brands.
“We are excited about the outcome of the Off-White C/O Victorinox Limited Edition bringing together Victorinox tradition and knowledge with the young and up-to-date brand Off-White representing today’s understanding of urban adventure, an attitude that we share for all of our products,” said Veronika Elsener, Chief of Marketing at Victorinox.
The design of the blades represents the shapes of ancient tools made from stone, which were used for cutting, drilling and other tasks in prehistoric times.
The blades’ rounded edges slightly protrude from the corpus of the pocket knife, giving it an original look.
When positioned in the correct order next to each other, the silhouette of the single tools resembles a fig leaf – an ‘allusion to Adam and Eve’, which is ‘linked to the core concept of beginnings’.
The ancient stone tool theme is also represented by the use of a new material – Corian Solid Surface (a solid, nonporous, homogeneous surfacing material, composed of resin and natural minerals) – which the companies claim has never been used on a Swiss Army Knife before.
The Corian scales are described as ‘like real stone to the touch’, accentuated by their weight, matte surface and resilience to scratches and wear.
The scales are white, complemented by black prints.
The front scale features the Victorinox Cross & Shield logo and symbols, representing the heritage of the brand, along with the name and the year of the limited edition.
On the back scale, there’s a series of images showcasing the evolution from stone to tool.
The multitool features blades, a wood saw, reamer, corkscrew, key ring, wire strippers, bottle opening, screwdrivers and a can opener.
The newly created Swiss Army Knife is the hero product in Off-White’s Equipment project in partnership with Post Archive Faction (a South Korean menswear brand launched by Dongjoon Lim and Sookyo Jeong in 2018).
It can be purchased worldwide in Victorinox stores and online stores, in Off-White stores in London, Milano, Paris and in PAF’s online stores and its store in Seoul.
