AirAsia eases online shopping with website & app refresh

Duty free shopping deals are now positioned more prominently on Airasia.com’s homepage after the Malaysian low-cost carrier announced a facelift of its website and mobile app.
The updates, which include an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot named AVA (AirAsia Virtual Allstar), ‘are aimed at delivering a more seamless, user-friendly experience’ online and to the app’s 3.3m active monthly users.
Easier homepage navigation, flight notices, recommended destinations, links to hotels, travel and retail promotions and a shortcut to the carrier’s money app BigPay and e-commerce platform Ourshop are among a host of new features.
‘COMPLETE TRAVEL COMPANION’
The AI chatbot can answer queries via a live chat function in eight languages – English, Bahasa Malaysia, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
Other useful tools include an interactive flight search map for iOS users that identifies all AirAsia’s destinations in one page.
They can also select their nearest departure and arrival airports and filter these by number of stops and flight duration, or scan for the lowest fares using the ‘Low Fare Calendar’ and pay using BigPoints.
AirAsia Deputy Group CEO Digital, Transformation and Corporate Services Aireen Omar said: “We are excited to welcome the new year with our new-look website and app that features AI and boasts a better, faster, more intuitive experience.
“We are always working to enhance our guest experience, and we will be adding more mobile app features in the months to come so it is no longer just a flight booking platform, but your complete travel companion. We encourage new users to download the app for free from the App Store or Google Play to experience these features for themselves.”
