‘Big hit’ Classic Collection

By Doug Newhouse |

Fashion jewellery house PILGRIM says that its Classic Collection is proving to be ‘a big hit in global travel retail’ and looks set to be a strong focus for the company going forward.

The Classic Collection is in addition to the Danish company’s four fashion collections each year and comes under the direction of former travel retail account manager Karina Lassen. At present, the company says that its travel retail clients are listing the Classic Collection, together with key pieces from its main fashion range.

“Having spent several years working in the travel retail department I got to see the trends of the travelling consumer and noted that there was a need to create some classic items which are ageless in design and appeal to a wider audience,” said Karina Lassen, Classic Manager.

“I continue to work closely with the travel retail department when looking at new designs and I am delighted with the success the PILGRIM Classic Collection has achieved already.”

TWO COLLECTIONS EACH YEAR
The first Classic collection was launched in July 2010 and there are now two Classic collections released each year. Each collection features a variety of bracelet designs, necklaces, earrings and many different ring choices designed to be worn alone, or mixed and matched with the PILGRIM on-trend fashion pieces.

Mette Rohrdanz, Travel Retail Manager said: “This is a very strong collection worldwide and for travel retail we have seen a great uptake with the Classic designs. The idea is that these harmonise perfectly with the designs in the fashion collections.

“The range features heart shapes, stars, flowers and simple pendants and these tone down some of our more daring fashion statement pieces, but without losing our PILGRIM edge and spirit.

“In travel retail customers want to be inspired by the high-fashion pieces, but in most cases opt for the toned-down versions, which whilst still being a fashion statement, they are more subtle and wearable for all ages.”

NATURE THEME
The company says that the current spring and summer fashion collections have a fun and elegant nature theme. The spring collection centres around a wild summer garden, featuring foxes, birds and insects, plus exotic flowers and leaves. Colours range from pastoral shades to strong neon colours.

The most recent launch, summer 2011, continues the nature theme, but with a more ‘secret garden’ feel and features several new designs, as well as updated colours for the spring top sellers.

Metallics in shiny gold, silver and bronze are designed to create a daring and modern look and the company says that the on-trend look right now is to mix metallics with sparkling jewellery.

Statement jewellery in black is also said to be a big feature this season, along with feminine jewellery in warm gold tones with cool white accessories, which the company says is the ‘hot’ look this season.
