WG&S announces trio of senior hires to bolster ‘resurgent’ travel retail unit

William Grant & Sons (WG&S) has added three executives to its senior global travel retail management team with a view to expansion.

The appointments are Karan Tuli, Regional Customer Marketing Manager, APAC and ME; Karim Moukalled, Customer Planning & Activation Manager – Global Travel Retail; and Richard Burns, Head of Commercial Finance – Global Travel Retail.

Tuli, a familiar face within industry circles and the former ASEAN Area Manager, Travel Retail at Bacardi and General Manager Asia Pacific at Agatha Asia Pacific, will spearhead activation plans and strategies for WG&S in Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Based in WG&S’ Singapore office, Tuli will support the wider commercial team and report to Lindsay Hitzeroth, Head of Customer Marketing – Global Travel Retail.

Meanwhile, Karim Moukalled (pictured below left) joins WG&S from Japan Tobacco International (JTI) where he served as Marketing Activation Manager – Global Travel Retail for the best part of six years.

While there, the experienced marketeer was responsible for planning and implementing activations for major brands across the Middle East and Africa.

The multi-linguist started his career with British American Tobacco as a Trade Marketing Executive in Saudi Arabia after graduating from the Lebanese American University in Beirut and holds a bachelor’s degree in business marketing.

Completing the trio of appointments is Richard Burns, who is due to move to London to take up his global travel retail finance role after more than three-and-a-half years working as a Senior Commercial Finance Manager for WG&S Australia in its Sydney office. He will report to Iain Short, Finance Director for APAC & GTR.

Prior to WG&S, Burns worked at Coca-Cola Amatil based in Australia, as Finance Business Partner – Retail Sales & Marketing.
