Wild Tiger has been working on the launch of Gindia Original Craft gin for nearly two years.

Premium Indian rum brand Wild Tiger Beverages is diversifying into the gin segment in travel retail and duty free with the launch of Gindia Original Craft gin.

Produced in Kerala at the Wild Tiger distillery on the banks of the Bharathapuzha river, Gindia Original Craft Gin, bottled at 43% abv is distilled from grain. According to the company, it is an amalgam of classic gin botanicals and hand-picked Indian botanicals including Himalayan Juniper, Assam Tea, Green Cardamom, Black Pepper, Clove, Sweet Orange peel to name a few of the 23 botanicals that go into its production.

Initial launches in DF&TR will be supported with gin glasses as gifts with purchase and high profile promotions at select airport locations. The duty free retail price for Gindia Original is $39.95 for the litre variant.

Gautom Menon, Founder, Wild Tiger Beverages said: “We have been working on this for nearly two years with a scientific approach. Finally we enter full production in the New Year. We have been showcasing it to buyers in the duty-free industry, importers and distributors for a few months now and the response has been encouraging. We have confirmed listings with eight of the top 20 global duty-free operators for Gindia Original.

Explaining the company decision to now launch a gin in DF&TR, Menon explained: “I conceived the idea of a ‘quintessential Indian gin’ in 2008, but first wanted to make our mark with Wild Tiger Rum. Like rum, gin evokes a seamless and spectacular story of India.

“India is the botanical capital of the world. No other gastronomy uses as many spices as Indian cuisine does. What’s more, gin is going through an extraordinary growth period worldwide.”

He added: “India is the birthplace of the G&T. What was missing was a 100% made-in-India craft gin, so now is a great time to introduce Gindia to the world. Our tagline, ‘GINtrinscially Indian Gin’, captures the attributes of this unique gin brand impeccably.”

Initial launches in DF&TR will be supported with gin glasses as gifts with purchase and high profile promotions.

The white bottle with a pearl look comes with an embossed cork stopper and is made using recycled glass featuring a debossed outline in brushed metal. The patented bottle design depicts the key botanicals and all inks used are eco-friendly. It comes with a high-quality, embossed cork stopper.

Menon added: “I am delighted how the design and prototyping were conceptualised, evolved and brought to life, all done in-house by our two talented designers; Paul George (T-2) and Deva Selvaraj (T-3). We’ve put in countless hours together collectively and the final result is an ‘objet d’art’ we can savour every bit as much as a Gindia & Tonic.”

Innovation and social responsibility are key parts of the company’s vision, which is clear in the launch of Gindia Original Craft Gin. “The botanicals and spices are sourced from farmers and tribes across the length and breadth of the expansive country. Inclusive growth is a key focus of the company’s mission.”
