Wild Tiger treads new growth path in Americas duty free

Earning his stripes: Gautom Menon, Wild Tiger Rum’s ebullient Chief Brand Officer.

Premium Indian rum brand Wild Tiger is reporting positive reaction to its novel skus across the Americas.

“We are currently shipping orders to the duty free operators in Ontario, Canada after getting favourable responses from Canadian buyers at the FDFA show in Montréal,” commented Gautom, Chief Brand Officer.

“We are also pleased with the performance of Wild Tiger at Neutral Duty Free in the Uruguay/Brazil borders and JPT Chile where it launched just before Christmas.”

Prakash Thadani, CEO, JPT Chile added: “Wild Tiger Rum has been an exciting addition to our liquor range at our Iquique store.

“We launched during the festive period and the response has been promising. Store visitors particularly love the catchy, tactile packaging and flavour of the rum. We are confident the brand will grow in Chile.”

The Rumtastic Rum Box aims to grow the category in a novel, engaging and educative way.

The Kerala-produced liquid has performed well in travel retail since its launch a little under two years ago.

Since then, it has picked up some notable listings at Aer Rianta International’s (ARI) shops in Barbados, Auckland and Muscat, and with Lagardère Travel Retail in Paris and Auckland.

Other business with Viking Line, DFS Singapore and King Power Thailand is reportedly in the ‘pipeline’, adds the brand.

Last year, it forged an agreement with distributor Haleybrooke International to help develop the North American (US and Canada) markets, which has been instrumental in securing the aforementioned Canadian listings.

Wild Tiger will feature at this months Summit of the Americas in Orlando in a bid to increase its presence in North Americas, LATAM and the Caribbean.

New one-litre variants of Special Reserve Dark Rum and Indian Spiced Rum will be a focus.

“We also now have the Cubs Twin pack in a cute gifting format of two 35cl bottles of each variant retailing at $25,” adds Menon.

Also on display will be the Rumtastic Rum Box concept, an advent-style calendar including 20 miniatures from rum-producing countries around the world designed to educate and surprise travelling consumers.

Wild Tiger Rum can be found at the Halebrooke International booth 207
