Women in Travel Retail (WiTR) will raise funds in aid of 2020/21 nominated charity ImpactHK on 15 October.

The event, which takes place during The Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo 2020 (12-16 October), supports those that are homeless in Hong Kong and susceptible to abuse and violence.

WiTR members and non-members can join the event from anywhere in the world via a *Zoom link, the details of which can be found below.

There is no fee to join the event, but WiTR is asking those that are able to pledge a minimum of €10, £10 or $10 via the WiTR website.

“The usual event at TFWA World Exhibition has always given WiTR a wonderful opportunity to raise funds for our annual charity and without that this year, the money raised is inevitably very limited,” said WiTR Chair Sarah Branquinho.

“For this reason, we have agreed that ImpactHK will continue as the WiTR nominated charity for 2021. This year continues to be the most devastating that our duty free/travel retail industry has ever known, and for most of us a very unsettling and strange one at best. Our hearts go out to all who have themselves caught Covid-19 or had family members who have suffered, and to those who have been furloughed and particularly to those who have lost their jobs.”

This year’s WiTR fund-raising meeting will include a quiz set by Gerry Munday. The session will open with an introduction from ImpactHK’s Founder Jeff Rotmeyer followed by an open catch-up among attendees and the quiz itself.

Participants have the chance to win one of three prizes, the top prize being a luxury handbag from Coccinelle. Gift vouchers in denominations of £100 and £50 will also be up for grabs for second and third place, respectively.

All funds generated will go directly to ImpactHK and add to a 5% donation from Virtual Expo partner FiLTR.
