World Duty Free Group’s Strathspey global coup
By Kevin Rozario |
William Grant & Sons has released an exclusive signature blend from its rare casks reserves – The Strathspey 21 Year Old – which will only be available in World Duty Free Group’s (WDFG) specialist World of Whiskies airport stores in the UK, Cancun in Mexico, and Madrid.
The Strathspey limited edition blend (£99 for a 70cl bottle) was created using a combination of aged whiskies from the Grant family private collections plus “some of the most revered ancient malt and grain whiskies from across Scotland”.
Over the past 40 years, the whiskies have been hand selected for the private family archives by Charles Gordon the great grandson of William Grant, founder of the Glenfiddich and The Balvenie distilleries.
Brian Kinsman, William Grant & Sons’ 6th Master Blender has now created a range of finite micro-batches of blends, chosen by whisky ambassadors. He comments: “This is an incredibly exciting release from our archives. Our Rare Cask Reserves really are a taste of history.”
The Strathspey 21 Year Old will be available for a limited time in World of Whiskies stores at London Heathrow’s T1, T3, T4 and T5; Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Madrid, Barcelona, and Cancun airports. Of the series of 11 micro batches, the smallest is 60 bottles and available at Aberdeen’s World of Whiskies store.
