Swedish Match has introduced ZYN Gold nicotine pouches into its travel retail range, which have a tobacco flavour without the use of tobacco.
The new flavour is reminiscent of dried fruit, wood and caramel and is available in 3mg and 6mg nicotine strengths.
“This new release is an exciting and innovative addition to our portfolio. Swedish Match says Tobacco Gold is designed for ‘nicotine users who do not wish to consume tobacco, but still enjoy the taste’.
It also aims to tap into a new wave of consumers ‘who may not have previously considered nicotine pouches, due to preferring a tobacco taste over the current selection of flavours available in the market’.
Research by Catalyx with Swedish Match found that tobacco is ‘the most desired flavour in the category’.
In addition, the number of cigarette smokers around the world continues to fall.
World Health Organization research shows that there are 1.30 billion tobacco users globally (according to its global tobacco trends report released November 2021) compared to 1.32 billion in 2015 and that this number is expected to drop to 1.27 billion by 2025.
