Accident closes Dubai International Airport

A major incident occurred at Dubai International Airport after a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft was involved in a non-tragic accident while trying to take off.

Fourteen people were slightly injured in the accident, but all 236 passengers and crew are alive and well.
‘Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG006 flying from Dubai to Dhaka had a minor accident during take-off,’ the Department of Civil Aviation said in a statement. ‘Now the airport will be closed for 8 hours minimum to ensure the runway is safe to use.’
Duba Duty Free Managing Director Colm McLoughlin told 300 delegates at this morning's Trinity Forum in Dubai that his staff were busying themselves by providing food and drinks to stranded passengers in the terminal building. During the closure of the airport, incoming flights were being diverted to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
