Bahrain Duty Free reports that it has recently held its four-day annual training seminar for 480 employees entitled ‘Going Forward’ for its staff under the slogan ‘Lead the Way’, at the Dragon Hotel and Resorts on the Amwaj Islands.
The company said that Steve O’Connor, General Manager, welcomed the audience and expressed his appreciation for their ‘effort, dedication and sense of responsibility towards the success of this annual event, which reflects the image of interdependence and belonging to the family of Bahrain Duty Free’.
He said that he was pleased with the results achieved by Bahrain Duty Free during the last year and went on to highlight the objectives developed for 2011 and the challenges and difficulties facing the company.
He said that the company was dedicated to providing excellent customer service, attractive products at reasonable prices and promotions, to live up to the level of customer service of a ‘six star’ standard.
The seminar was attended by 480 employees from various divisions and departments of the company including senior management.
STAFF DIVIDED INTO THREE GROUPS
Describing the structure of the event, the company said: “During the seminar the staff were divided into three groups over the four days, talking on a variety of topics. The first group discussed right and wrong methods in dealing with customers and innovative ideas that would contribute to the development of customer service, using the ‘Scamper’ method which is one of the strategies used to help generate ideas.
“They also presented to the management 250 innovative ideas that would facilitate the operations and methods of creating the right atmosphere for customer satisfaction. The company is seriously considering implementing many of these ideas.”
The company added that the second group, targeted supervisory level and focused its discussions on the challenges facing the supervisors in their work. The group also highlighted the three components of effective leadership, in means and ways of motivating staff and how to make use of motivation techniques.
STRATEGIC THINKING AND ACTION
The third group targeted the executive’s management of the company and centered its presentation and discussion on ‘Turning Strategic Thinking into Action’. The group also covered the three components that affect business – ‘Strategy Execution Innovation and Agility’ – and the impact on innovation & strategy setting.
