DDF celebrates ‘terrific atmosphere’ at long-awaited Shergar Cup in Ascot

The team from Great Britain & Ireland were victorious at the 2022 Shergar Cup hosted by Dubai Duty Free on Saturday 6 August, finishing with 132 points.
However, DDF insisted the ‘international flavour’ of the event was more evident than ever at the world’s premier international jockeys’ competition in Berkshire.
DDF entertained guests at Ascot Racecourse’s premier hospitality facility on Saturday, including members of TRBusiness.
As many will remember, racing behind-closed-doors in 2020 forced the cancellation of the world’s premier international jockeys’ challenge and although the event returned in 2021, Covid-19 travel restrictions prevented the attendance of senior executives.
Colm McLoughlin, Dubai Duty Free’s Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, Salah Tahlak, Joint Chief Operating Officer, Sinead El Sibai, Senior Vice President – Marketing and Bernard Aquino, Supervisor – PR & Media were all in attendance this year.
Following the presentation of the Dubai Duty Shergar Cup trophy to the winning team, racegoers enjoyed a post-event concert headlined by Grammy Award winning Clean Bandit with multi-platinum selling band, The Hoosiers, together with Marvin Humes and Samm Henshaw also performing.
McLoughlin said of the event: “This year’s renewal of the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup has again delivered highly competitive racing and a terrific atmosphere.
“We congratulate all the winners and thank all the participants who continue to support this truly global occasion.”
