DDF broke US$2bn in DF&TR sales on 26 December.

Dubai Duty Free (DDF) is on track for another successful year after sales exceeded Dhs7.3bn (US$2bn) on 26 December 2019.

As reported, revenue also reached the $2bn mark last year in the early hours of 29 December.

“2019 has been a good year for Dubai Duty Free,” commented DDF Executive Vice Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Colm McLoughlin, who celebrated 50 years in travel retail in June.

“We have invested in a number of major refurbishments across the retail operation and it is fantastic to have achieved the $2bn figure well before the end of the year.”

The $2bn figure was surpassed in Concourse D on 26 December, when Indian nationals Mr and Mrs Neeraj Sati purchased liquor and tobacco items.

To celebrate the milestone, Mr Sati and his daughter were presented with Dubai Duty Free gift cards worth $2,000 by Dubai Duty Free officials, including Shafique Ansari, Operations Manager.

The signing of a strategic cooperation with WeChat developers Tencent Holdings Limited and a celebration of its 36th anniversary with a 25% discount on a range of merchandise between from 18-20 December were among a number of highlights for DDF in 2019.
