Dufry training programme

The Dufry Group has launched its new training programme in Sharjah called 'Dufry plus1', which is aimed at teaching the 'added plus' skills and activities to sales associates, to both improve the customer experience at

its stores and assist customers in identifying additional product purchases.

The company says that 'Dufry plus 1' will become an integral part of Dufry's strategy to provide both customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

The programme focuses on the added or 'plus' activities that sales associates can provide to ensure that the Dufry customer experience is number one and it will be gradually rolled out to the company's sales associates in a number of locations all over the world.

The programme has the backing of Dufry's Global COO, Jos? Antonio Gea, with the initial launch being overseen locally by Dufry's Regional COO for Eurasia, Rene Riedi and it is a world first for Dufry's human resources team.

The company said: ‘The backbone to the programme is the development of Dufry managers at regional and Business Unit levels as trainers and sales and service champions. The programme has been developed and is being rolled out jointly with Dufry's Regional HR Directors and local HR Managers, in partnership with Retail Operations.

Marcus Griffin, Global HR Manager, and coordinator of the 'Dufry plus 1 programme' commented: ‘Our colleagues get training to structure a sales process and to put them more in control of each selling situation. As a result, they can focus better on each customer and assist them in identifying additional products with measurable results.

‘The Dufry plus1 programme will become one of the cornerstones for developing our people.’

The pilot programme in Sharjah has already seen 10 managerial staff in Sharjah become qualified trainers to roll out and deliver Dufry plus1 training to all sales associates in Sharjah over the coming month. Celine Heinrich, Regional HR Director for Region 3 Eurasia, has taken responsibility to roll it out in the rest of this Region.

The company says that the next wave of training is now being set up to start implementation in one additional operation in each of the Regions Europe, Africa and Central America & Caribbean.
