Hamad International rolls out ‘frictionless wayfinding’ experience

Travellers can scan the QR codes using their mobile device to navigate to their chosen point of interest.

Hamad International Airport in Doha is introducing a new digital wayfinding solution to help passengers more seamlessly navigate the terminal.

QR codes are accessible through a variety of digital touchpoints that are conveniently located across the airport’s vast terminal, providing passengers with an easy-to-use wayfinding solution.

The initiative gives rise to a new era of ‘frictionless wayfinding’ for travellers, whether they are trying to make their way from Orchard (featuring 40 new shops in the central concourse) to the giant LampBear in the grand foyer, are eager to try one of the dining or retail experiences, or find a departure gate.

“We are constantly reviewing and evaluating our multiple digital touchpoints for passengers to ensure we meet their requirements,” said Suhail Kadri, Senior Vice President of Technology and Innovation at Hamad International Airport.

“By investing and utilising the latest innovative technological solutions and listening to global passenger requirements at our airport, we will continue to set and exceed industry standards.”

The QR codes are available across the airport through Flight Information Display Screens, Passenger Digital Assistance Kiosks and other touchpoints.

The new digital solution is compatible with all mobile devices and passengers can connect to Hamad International Airport’s next generation Wi-Fi to utilise the service.

Digital Concierges located at Orchard include information about retail and F&B offerings, flight information, relaxation and rejuvenation options, as well as attractions at the airport.

Hamad International has also introduced Passenger Digital Assistance Kiosks, which are located at the North Plaza of the airport and around the LampBear.

Hamad International Airport received the ‘World’s Best Airport for Shopping’ this year from Skytrax and completed the first phase of its expansion, which has significantly increased capacity.
