The International Centre for Settlement of Disputes (ICSD) is to hear the case against the former Kenyan Government which is accused of involvement in the sequestration of duty free shops owned by World Duty Free

(Africa) in the late nineties.
The Kenyan Government which is being sued for Sh40bn by WDFA Chairman Nasir Ibrahim Ali, is being represented by Attorney-General Amos Wako and a team of international lawyers.
Dubai-based Ali will be represented by Kenyan Member of Parliament and lawyer Paul Muite and high profile British lawyer Geoffrey Robertson.
Ali is accusing the former government of not only taking his duty free shops in Nairobi and Mombasa through use of forged documents, but also knowingly involving WDFA in a gem scam which has become known as the Goldenberg scandal.
Ali was subsequently deported from Kenya after he accused senior government and other officials of being complicit in the alleged scam. In his lawsuit, Ali accuses former President Daniel arap Moi, his son Gideon Moi and his former assistant Joshua Kulei of direct involvement, along with the now disgraced businessman Kamlesh Patnni and MP Nicholas Biwott.
The case is scheduled to be heard on Wednesday and is expected to last two days.
