Louis Vuitton to take centre stage at HIA in ‘first’ for Qatar Duty Free

Qatar Duty Free (QDF) is set to welcome a Louis Vuitton store to Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha.

The luxury giant’s first store with QDF will display a wide selection of leathergoods, ready-to-wear, watches, jewellery, accessories, fragrances, footwear and textiles.

These will span men’s and women’s ranges and highlight the maison’s concentration on the travel business.

Louis Vuitton’s arrival is the latest in a string of ‘firsts’ for QDF in recent months.

In March, QDF unveiled luggage brand Samsonite’s first ever duty free store in the Middle East, while Moncler launched its debut line of fragrances in worldwide travel retail in January.

Hamad International Airport, crowned ‘Best Airport in the World’ by Skytrax in 2021, is gearing up to welcome thousands of visitors to this year’s FIFA World Cup (21 November – 18 December).

The new additions enhance a formidable retail spread at HIA, as Qatar prepares to handle scores of visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2022 due to take place later this year.

As reported, a two-phase expansion of the retail and F&B offer will add 11,720sq m of commercial space as the airport’s capacity is set to lift to more than 58 million passengers this year.

Phase B will commence after the FIFA World Cup and will increase HIA’s capacity to more than 60 million pax.

HIA grew its passenger volumes by 41.4% to 17,702,635 in 2021 year-on-year, with QDF reporting a surge in revenue per passenger in excess of +70% versus 2019.
