Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI) Managing Director Marius Fouche emerged as champion at the 28th Dubai Duty Free (DDF) Golf World Cup (24-25 November).

As a highly anticipated fixture in the international travel retail calendar, this year’s competition attracted around 80 players who contested two rounds at the Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

Fouche walked away with the trophy after posting two rounds of 43 and 48 points for a grand total of 81.

The two-day stableford event organised by DDF gathered industry friends and colleagues, plus guests, with a range of prizes across the respective Men’s, Ladies’ and Senior’s sections.

Overall local winners in the Men’s and Ladies’ division were AR Meeran and Naima Maya.

Among those to seal podium finishes in the other prize categories were: Vikram Malhotra, Lucas Roberts, Rekha Bandopadhay, Satnam Kaur, Ashok Ahuja, Gurbax Singh, Cees Vandooren, Brian King, Dermot Davitt, Amarjeet Radia, JP Fitzgerald, Jeannie Archer, Gary Byrne, Sanne Smith, Bharat Godkhindi, Vicki Smyth, Steve Flanagan, Ninu Smith, Arun Khehar, Linda Boland, Richard Thorpe, Kevin Meade, Phil Haine, Nick Diacon, James Finnegan and Marius Fouche.

The 28th Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup offered a fitting end to the hugely successful two-day MEADFA Conference held at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel in Dubai.

Commenting on the success of the tournament, Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman & CEO Colm McLoughlin said: “Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all our friends from the duty free industry, who travel without fail to participate in this two-day competition and made this year’s event truly memorable.

“I would also like to thank Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club for their continuous support.”

The 28th Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup followed the conclusion of the MEADFA Conference, held at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel (21-23 November). For a detailed report, click here.
