Muscat Duty Free marks Omani National Day with Amouage
By Naomi Chadderton |
Muscat Duty Free transformed the passenger journey at Muscat International Airport with a large-scale, airport-wide activation for Amouage OPUS XIV Timber, created in partnership with Oman’s luxury fragrance house to coincide with Omani National Day celebrations on 20–21 November.
The initiative reimagined how travellers move through the terminal, turning the airport into a curated path of discovery dedicated to the fragrance and its narrative.
The experience began on the departures ramp with a high-impact digital reveal, before leading passengers to a dedicated pop-up at check-in that set the tone for the journey ahead. As travellers continued airside, they encountered a striking Timber presentation at the Media Drum, supported by additional pop-ups at each pier gate.
Digital screens and physical installations were designed to work together, forming a cohesive narrative as passengers progressed through warm, evocative spaces inspired by the natural ingredients and craftsmanship behind the fragrance.
In recognition of Omani National Day, Muscat Duty Free integrated selective cultural moments into the activation, including traditional music and live performances over two days. These elements added a layer of national pride and cultural resonance, blending seamlessly with the Timber story while enhancing the emotional tone of the experience.
Renat Rozpravka, CEO of Muscat Duty Free, said: “This airport takeover allowed us to shape the passenger journey through an experience that travellers could connect with at every stage. It showcased the strength of a remarkable local brand and demonstrated how the story of Amouage can be brought to life in a way that is engaging, contemporary and aligned with our vision for modern travel retail.”
The takeover demonstrated Muscat Duty Free’s ability to transform the airport into a unified experience platform, merging cultural identity with immersive branded touchpoints. By fully integrating Timber into multiple stages of the journey, the activation elevated visibility for the fragrance while reinforcing Muscat Duty Free’s reputation as a leader in delivering impactful, sense-of-place retail concepts that resonate with both local and international passengers.
