Abu Dhabi Duty Free, operated by Lagardère Travel Retail, has become the first travel retailer worldwide to launch the new Robert Mondavi California wine collection.

The launch at Zayed International Airport sees Abu Dhabi Duty Free become the collection’s exclusive travel retail partner in Europe and the Middle East for its first six months, with the range now available across both departures and arrivals. The debut also coincides with the 60th anniversary of Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley, celebrating the winemaker’s role in helping establish California’s reputation on the international wine stage.

The Robert Mondavi California collection comprises Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and has been created by the Robert Mondavi winemaking team to bring the brand’s Californian wines to a wider audience at an accessible price point.

The Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay use fruit sourced from Mendocino County, where cooler temperatures and gravelly soils contribute balance and complexity. The Pinot Noir draws on Monterey County’s coastal climate to deliver vibrant red fruit flavours and refreshing acidity.

Yamil Sales, lead winemaker for the Robert Mondavi California collection, who works alongside Robert Mondavi Winery Director of Winemaking Kurtis Ogasawara, said: “With this collection, we aim to offer exceptional quality at an accessible price point, by drawing on the unique characteristics of California’s diverse wine regions.
