3Sixty secures Costa Maya cruise concession in Mexico
By Andrew Pentol |
3Sixty, (formerly known as DFASS) has been awarded the duty free concession at the International Cruise Terminal in Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico.
The new contract with the ITM Group is for 10 years and the store should be operational in the first quarter of 2019.
Located directly in front of the cruise pier, the new 3,400sq ft full walkthrough retail store will cater to over 1.5m passengers annually from cruise lines including Carnival, Royal Caribbean, MSC, Disney and Norwegian.
CONTINUED EXPANSION
Additionally, ITM is finalising a dock extension to serve rising cruise traffic in Mexico (+10% year on year) and pax increases to Costa Maya (+43%).
This will create the highest capacity terminal in the Mexican Caribbean. As a result, 3Sixty expects to serve more than two million passengers annually.
The new store will feature local design elements and international brand features.
Given the passenger profile, local liquors, fragrances, confectionery and exclusive products throughout the Caribbean will feature prominently in the product offering.
A full range of DF&TR brands, including top-selling tobacco, beauty and fashion accessories, will also be presented.
3Sixty Executive Vice Chairman Roberto Graziani (left) commented: “We are very pleased about the new Costa Maya retail opportunity and looking forward to this great new partnership with ITM.
“The continued expansion of 3Sixty ground retail operations in the Americas remains one of the top strategic imperatives for our group.”
OTHER DESTINATIONS
3Sixty and ITM Group will also partner in other destinations/countries and roll out additional DF&TR stores in the future.
ITM Chief Marketing Officer Roberto Shamosh said: “We considered many partners for this venture and are very confident that 3Sixty’s expertise and capabilities in the marketplace will pave the way for growth and development well into the future.”
3Sixty operates duty free/duty paid concessions in several key international airports, including Chicago O’Hare, Newark, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Charlotte Douglas, Denver, Dallas/Fort Worth, Ottawa and Philadelphia.
It also runs concessions on airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, Virgin Atlantic Airways, and Avianca.
Retail stores at cruise ports in Singapore, Cozumel and Progresso in Mexico, and Harvest Caye in Belize are also part of its portfolio.
