Brown-Forman Corporation has appointed Alex Prendes as Director Global Travel Retail (GTR) Americas, completing the company’s recently created channel leadership team.
The promotion, effective 3 July 2023, will see Prendes lead the charge on business in the Americas, which is ‘the strongest travel retail region’ for the company, which looks after leading beverage alcohol brands including Jack Daniel’s and Woodford Reserve.
Brown-Forman announced its new GTR organisation in February, with the creation of three geographical regions: the Americas, EMEAI (Europe, Middle East, Africa, India), and APAC (Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands), each with a dedicated commercial leader.
“I am very excited to welcome Alex to the Brown-Forman GTR organisation and to our leadership team,” said David Rodiek, Vice President, Managing Director GTR, Brown-Forman, who leads the company’s GTR organisation.
“His deep industry and commercial experience and his understanding of travel retail, along with his strategic mind and outstanding people leadership skills, make him well-suited for this important role.
“With Alex at the helm of the GTR Americas business, our leadership team is now complete.”
Prendes is the first person in the post since the retirement of Montgomery E. Wilson in 2022.
He joined Brown-Forman more than four years ago as Florida State Manager, and his areas of responsibility have since steadily expanded. Most recently, he has been responsible for all off- and on-premise channels, leading the team of commercial managers across Florida.
Prendes has 14 years’ experience in the spirits industry, having worked at Beam Suntory and Bacardi before joining Brown-Forman. A University of Miami graduate, he is based Miami.
