ASUTIL Cancun calling

By Doug Newhouse |

Latin-American Duty-Free Shops Association ASUTIL has issued an open invitation to delegates to register for this June’s conference (June 22 to June 25) which is set to be held at the JW Marriott hotel and will feature a keynote address by former President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

ASUTIL President Francisco Heredia Lafuente said the conference looks like being ‘a landmark event’ due to several factors, including the outstanding economic growth in the region; Cancun’s attractiveness at this time of the year; the ‘spectacular infrastructure’ of the JW Marriott hotel, which has even reserved an exclusive entrance door for arriving attendees to register.

Heredia said the location is also convenient due to Cancun Airport’s accessibility, plus the attractive hotel fee ($124 plus taxes, breakfast and internet included).

He said the possibility of participating in ‘an unforgettable social activity’ on Saturday combining history and nature is also an attraction, along with the networking time system, which will provide more flexibility to the meetings among operators and suppliers.

Added to that will be the gala dinner, lunches, a welcome party, a surprise gift and what Heredia describes as ‘an outstanding group of speakers’, lead by the former President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. This year, the Conference is entitled ‘Latin America: Neither Hell nor Paradise’.
