ASUTILs 2007 Lima dates

Jos? Luis Donagary, ASUTIL Secretario General has announced that the upcoming ASUTIL conference will take place from September 5 to 8 at the JW Marriott hotel in Lima, Peru.
Donagaray said the format will be the same as in previous years and outlining the social events and networking opportunities he noted that there had been many requests for a trip to Machu Picchu. He said that ASUTIL would assist with logistical support for those that would like to do that at the weekend.
During the conference, presentations will cover the economic and political situation in the region, security concerns and the ICAO regulations.
He said that Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina had applied to the EU for mutual recognition and Brazil had implemented the ICAO regulations on April 1. Peru is due to implement them today (May 1) and Chile is applying the EU standards in a Chilean way, he noted.
Lima Airport will speak about the new airport and its approach to the commercial areas, he explained and he added that there will be a tailor-made study on the perfume sector and how people in the Andes bring their product to duty free.
Distinguished speakers will also be present from the board of ASUTIL. Donagaray said that he thought Lima will be a very good destination for the conference this year and he added that it will continue to move around the region from year to year.
