DFA expands in Brazil with new Belo Horizonte opening
By Andrew Pentol |
Duty Free Americas (DFA) has accelerated its Brazilian expansion with the opening of a new store located pre-security in the passenger terminal at Belo Horizonte — Tancredo Neves/Confins International Airport.
The store offers customers duty paid products including perfumes, cosmetics, clothing accessories, electronics, wines and spirits, watches, chocolates and snacks.
Currently operating in nine of Brazil’s most important airports, the new Bello Horizonte store is an important step in DFA’s Brazilian expansion.
This includes the recent opening of a new duty arrivals store in Salvador and 11 convenience stores in a joint-venture with WHSmith in Rio de Janeiro Galeão and São Paulo Guarulhos International Airports.
FURTHER OPENINGS
In the coming months, two new stores will also open in São Paulo Guarulhos Airport and one new duty paid store in Salvador. A complete renewal of two shops in Porto Alegre will also support its Brazilian expansion plan.
DFA President Leon Falic told TRBusiness: “With the largest economy in Latin America, Brazil continues to be a key market in our regional strategy. We are committed to the development of DFA’s Brazilian operations and continue to look forward to a prosperous future together with our local partners.”
Currently operating 236 stores across 180 North and South American locations offering cosmetics, tobacco, jewellery, wines, spirits and luxury, DFA recently opened its largest store to date in Rio Branco on the Uruguayan border with Brazil.
The retailer, is also no doubt keeping an eye on the Brazilian border situation, with the first stores set to open anytime soon.
