DFASS secures 10-year lease extension at Orlando Airport
By Andrew Pentol |
DFASS Group has secured a contract extension for its duty free/duty paid concession at Orlando International Airport (MCO).
With the 10-year lease amendment, DFASS will gain a new 4,600sq ft (427sq m) duty free/duty paid store in the South Terminal central rotunda area. This is expected to open in late 2020.
DFASS will retain its Airside 4 location in the North Terminal over 9,600sq ft of duty free space as international traffic shifts to the South Terminal.
This location will boast duty free/duty paid brands in liquor, tobacco, P&C, confectionery, fashion & accessories.
BROADER PROUDCT RANGE
It will also feature omni-channel retailing functions such as pre-order and home delivery and will boast a broader product range.
With the expanded facilities being developed, the South Terminal passenger mix is anticipated to be over 40% international by 2025.
The new terminal will feature over 75 new gates and connect to the North Terminal via an automated people mover.
The central atrium where the duty free and other retail and food and beverage operations are positioned will feature a vaulted ceiling and provide seating for over 600 passengers. The anticipated dwell time is 90 minutes.
As all traffic entering the South Terminal will do so through the central rotunda, 100% of passengers will be exposed to the duty free store prior to transiting to their gates.
FURTHER EXPANSION
In a statement, DFASS praises the extension as evidence of its strategy in the Americas to secure and manage long-term and adaptive duty free/duty paid operations.
DFASS Executive Vice Chairman Roberto Graziani said: “We could not be more pleased with this contract extension. Our partnership in Orlando has been quite successful to date and we now have a tremendous opportunity to take our operations to a new level.
“I am appreciative of GOAA’s confidence in our abilities and look forward to an even stronger, more fruitful relationship going forward.”
MCO handled a record 44.6m passengers last year, just under six million of which were international travellers.
