Dufry/Hudson seal leases in big Florianópolis tender

By Luke Barras-hill |

Main-Floripa-tenderDufry and Hudson will join a mix of 35 new brands due to take up residence at Florianópolis International Airport’s new Terminal and Boulevard 14/32.

The Zurich Airport subsidiary launched what it dubbed as one of the ‘largest airport commercial tenders in Brazil’ in October.

Dufry will operate a duty free shop at International Departures and Arrivals and a Dufry Shopping unit at Domestic Departures when the new terminal, which houses 4,000sq m of commercial space, officially opens on 1 October.

Meanwhile, Hudson will occupy a unit at Domestic Departures. The contract lengths were not disclosed.

MORE RETAIL TO FOLLOW…

The global travel retail powerhouse will join a number of other local, national and international F&B and retail brands (see below for a full list) feeding into the airport’s refreshed commercial ‘macro-concept’.

Florianópolis Airport houses 62 commercial spaces at present across the R$20m ($4.9m) Boulevard 14/32 and the new R$550m ($134.1m) passenger terminal, operator Floripa Airport has told TRBusiness.

The 11,000sq m mixed-use Boulevard 14/32 is billed as a new leisure option for Florianópolis.

Twelve out of a total 16 retail units have now been leased, including the aforementioned lots for Dufry and Hudson, in addition to the following shops: technology (two), souvenirs (three), sustainable clothes, jewellery and cosmetics (one), surf (one), pharmacy (one) and automobile souvenir featuring international brands (one). Four retail spaces remain open for negotiation.

In a statement, the airport maintains it is working hard with its partners to ensure all the commercial stores are accessible to customers.

Zurich Airport was awarded a 30-year concession to operate and expand the airport in 2017.

“Since we took over the Florianópolis Airport, in January 2018, we have said that an airport is not only a place for passengers, but it is ‘a place to be’ where people spend time, enjoy themselves, have unforgettable experiences and, of course, are involved in the magic of aviation,” said Tobias Markert, CEO of Floripa Airport.

Tobias Markert, CEO of Floripa Airport, presents the brand mix at the new terminal and Boulevard 14/32, both of which open in October.

“This is a model of airport which is already consolidated around the world and that we, from Zurich Airport, want to bring to Brazil.”

As reported, the Boulevard 14/32 mixed-use development spans 11,000sq m of indoor and open public areas dedicated to shopping, entertainment and dining, with a commercial zone of 3,500sq m. The centrepiece is a covered ‘grand plaza’ central square positioned in front of the new terminal.

The new passenger terminal will be four times larger than the existing one and is equipped to serve eight million passengers when it opens.
