By Luke Barras-hill |
Dufry has won a tender to operate duty free and duty paid concessions at Aena-managed Recife Guararapes – Gilberto Freyre International Airport.
The global travel retailer will develop four new store layouts over a total area of 1,374sq m as part of a contract running until November 2029.
As part of the footprint, Dufry will operate a 431sq m departures duty free walkthrough store and a 595sq m duty free shop in arrivals.
Both will offer a large selection of core duty free products, including perfumes & cosmetics, liquor and confectionery.
Two reconfigured duty paid shops are also located in departures, an 80sq m landside store and a 268sq m unit.
The shops will feature a Hudson convenience shop-in-shop concept and, similar to the duty free shops, a range of core skus.
Gustavo Fagundes, Chief Operating Officer, South America at Dufry said: “We are very proud to be able to continue our long-standing and successful collaboration with Recife International Airport and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners at Aena for their renewed trust. Our continued close collaboration will help us deliver a further improved shopping experience to almost 9 million passengers that visit the airport each year.”
The airport is an important hub in Northeast Brazil and [typically] handles nearly nine million passengers per year.
Aena’s Brazilian airports handled a combined 11,799.368 million passengers in 2021.
Of that, Recife accounted for 7,523.046 million – a 55.5% increase versus 2020.
