Duty Free Global launches Amázzoni Brazilian gin into travel retail

Amázzoni Gin is now available in GTR via Duty Free Global.

Wines and spirits brand partner Duty Free Global is set to launch Amázzoni Gin into travel retail at the IAADFS Summit of the Americas, a sustainability-focused Brazilian spirit made with Amazon rainforest-sourced botanicals.

Made at Brazil’s first dedicated gin distillery, Amázzoni was founded in Rio de Janeiro in 2015 by two friends, Arturo Isola and Alexandre Mazza.

Since its inception, Amázzoni has supported Amazon Rainforest preservation projects through a partnership with NGO Vem do Xingu.

Vem do Xingu has arrangements with a network of 27 canteens linked to 14 local associations from indigenous lands and extractive reserves. The activity spans 9 million hectares of conserved Amazon forest.

The network serves as a space for communities to get support in the face of countless pressures in one of the most threatened parts of the Amazon. 

Amázzoni itself focuses on sustainability and is a zero-waste enterprise. It has set up a social programme in the nearby town of Porto Real to train and recruit 12 women to work at the distillery.

“This ethos applies to all the measures taken at our distillery to reduce our impact on the planet,” said Isola 

“We reuse all the waste  generated by the distillation process and use water from natural springs inside our farm.”

Amázzoni is Brazil’s largest craft distillery, and the country’s first dedicated entirely to gin.

Isola will be in attendance at the Summit of the Americas to provide guided tastings and tell the brand story.

Amázzoni bottlings set to be exhibited include Amázzoni Gin 42% ABV, a London dry style distilled from pure cereal alcohol with five traditional botanicals and another five from Brazil; Amázzoni Rio Negro 51% ABV, made with eight botanicals from Brazil and the Amazon; and Amázzoni Maniuara 38%, the first Brazilian Old Tom Gin. 

Duty Free Global is exhibiting in Foyer 3 at the Summit of the Americas. 

In March, Duty Free Global announced it was representing Caleño in GTR, a non-alcoholic ‘spirit’ inspired by the flavours of Colombia.
